Does this ad rub you the wrong way?

Some say that the ad minimizes Woods’ off-course exploits that cost him his family and, in all likelihood, much of the last few years of professional success.  Nike’s ad comes from Woods’ own words at last year’s Tour Championship. When asked whether he was concerned about Rory McIlroy, Woods responded that he was interested in “just winning. Winning takes care of everything.”

What I think?

Let the man live. People really know how to go on and on about some things. Yes, as a person, he went pretty low with how he carried himself and the effect it had on his children.

I am not a Tiger Woods fan. I have never really cared much about what he had going on in his life. Maybe, it was because he has gone all out to say he wasn’t black. I mean, did you see his father? A father that was very involved in his life. His father is the one that put him on track to become a golf great. Then, he turns around and only claims his Asian side? I actually think he made up a new race for himself or something. I just didn’t think that was someone I would waste my valuable time following. If you can treat your own father, who seemed very interested, like that, how would you be able to care about anyone else? My point was proven when he shit on his whole family.

Either way, everyone knows who he is and how great he is at his sport. That being said, let the cheating shit die already. That was for him and his family to deal with and I am sure they are going to be fine. How can they not be fine? They are filthy fucking rich. Mom and dad have the freedom to make their own schedules for the most part and can be very involved in their children’s lives. What is more important? What’s done is done. The man is one of the best to do it — let him do it. You don’t have to watch him or follow his career, I don’t. They don’t expect the man to work again? Come on.

Sideish note: Tiger’s divorce deal netted his ex a record $750 million settlement. “The price of the huge sum is her silence: no interviews, tell-all books, or TV appearances about this for the rest of her life — even if Tiger dies first — or she’ll lose the lot.” The golfer agreed to keep single women away from their children as a part of the deal. Under the no-girlfriends deal, only married women not romantically linked to Woods will be allowed around the children — plus female members of staff known to Nordegren.

He can bring a new flame into their lives only if he marries her. In return, former wife Elin Nordegren, 30, gets the biggest payout ever seen in a celebrity divorce.

“Tiger’s main fear is her telling her story after he’s rebuilt his reputation, sending him back to the gutter.” He can renegotiate the custody agreement in five years.

The pal said: “Elin admits that despite everything, Tiger loves his kids and has been a decent dad. “She is confident he will not pursue seeing the children that much, due to his work and lifestyle.” Nordegren gets sole physical custody of their kids but they will split legal custody.

That means Woods will share decisions about their future — so Nordegren will not be able to permanently relocate them to her native Sweden.

This was a huge divorce. That woman made off like a fat-cat. Yes, she lost her husband and family. She probably planned to spend the rest of her life with Tiger. But. fuck it. She is filthy rich now and he can live his life how he pleases. He paid a high cost for his infidelities and not seeing his kids in his home. The reality is, he works a lot and probably didn’t see them a whole lot anyway.

Now, he can see them without seeing the woman he didn’t even want to be married to. I think this woman is a lucky woman and not a victim. She could have been stuck in that marriage with a man like Tiger. Now? She can just take the money and go about her business. The truth is — he paid. He paid big. She benefited. He is a great golfer. He should be allowed to work now, in some kind of peace. No? I am off on this one?

Chime in…

  1. The ad doesn’t rub me the wrong way other than it’s a damned shame that his personal life has come to mess up his profession so much that he’s gotta fight tough odds if he’s ever gonna be on top again.

The recurring theme here – and the one people focus on when Tiger’s name comes up – is that if you fuck around and get caught, it’s gonna cost you big time. See, if this happened to someone without celebrity status, no one would ever hear of it let alone give a damn about it. But since it did, well, it’s still the talk of the town and his ex is getting paid a stupid amount of money.

I would imagine that there are a lot of women who feel that such a huge and unheard of settlement is warranted because of his cheating… and I’d ask, just because I could, what was it about her that made him feel he had to cheat in the first place.

That’s only if I gave a shit about his indiscretion, which I don’t. He took risks, got busted, and is still paying the price; people need to get off his back so he can get back to being the best in the world at what he does.
